The Front Porch Gallery

Greg Cheesebro

  cheesebro pottery

My love of making pottery started fifteen years ago in college.  After schooling, my skills were developed by two apprenticeships and one very large wood kiln building experience.  Today, I run a pottery studio in my house and a gallery on the front porch.  My pottery work is functional and intended to be used daily.

I have been making pottery off and on for the past 30 plus years. Straight out of high school I apprentice for two years with a potter named Monty Filbaeck in Brunswick Maine. I graduated from Viterbo College with a BFA and a focus in ceramics under the instruction of Tim Crane. Today I work out of my ceramic studio/gallery on Decker Street mostly making functional stoneware pottery. devorahyahn@frontiernet.net

Kindred Threads

Angela Feltes   gamp

My love of color and texture has taken me on a journey from being a glass artist to the fiber arts world. For the last 10 years I have explored spinning, dyeing and weaving. I am now creating fine handwovens, handspun and hand dyed yarns; in a studio space shared by a group of weavers and fiber artists. Occasionally glass calls me back and I fire up the torch or kiln to make beads and dichroic jewelry. Two such different mediums continue to inspire my creativity.

Raindance Baskets

Phyllis Scarbrough   tray

Born on a Washington state Mountain top and raised in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, Phyllis was influenced by her Norwegian legacy in sewing and building, but it wasn't until 1985 that she finally persued her desire to weave. Taking 3 basket weaving classes from a friend in Northern NY she was hooked and the rest is history. 20+ years later she is still intriqued and not bored with the art of basket making. Her favorite style is Cherokee Twills but Teaching Basketry is her hearts passion, as she says, "there is not a better job in the world than the one that makes people smile".

A fleeting glimpse, a snippet of conversation a few printed words may come together as the inspiration. I like to write as reflection or clarification and somewhat simultaneously begin sketches all on the road to another painting. In the end it's all about what will come to the surface.
