silk hankiesDyeing and Spinning Silk Hankies

Have fun playing with color as we dye silk hankies (thin layers of silk cocoons stretched into square “hankie” shape).  While we steam the dyes we will spin some already dyed silk into yarn, and if you are not a spinner we can show you how to knit the hankies  without spinning.  2  ounces of silk hankies and dyes included in materials fees.  Bring an apron or old clothes, rubber gloves and plastic bags to bring home wet fiber in.  Also bring a spinning wheel to try spinning some silk if you are interested.
You should have intermediate spinning skills if you plan on spinning silk. Bring knitting needles if you choose to knit silk rovings without spinning.
