Rent our 54" Glimakra Loom

Available by the week or by the month. 

Instruction is available at an hourly rate.  Join us in our studio, surrounded by other weavers, and give weaving a try. We currently have a warp on this loom if you want to come in and weave a bit. Our studio space is open when weavers are working or Fridays from 10:00-4:00 pm.

torchworkTorchworked Glass Beads

In this class we will be using torches to melt glass rods to create one of a kind glass beads. We strive for round but gravity frequently gets in the way, making this fun but unpredictable. It is definately fun to play with fire and be creative at the same time.

Date: Tuesday November 20th or Friday January 18th

Time: 9:00-12:00 pm

Cost: $35.00 plus $10.00 materials fee (discounted if kit is purchased)

FALL SCHEDULE AT KINDRED THREADS

NOTE: All classes are Minimum 4 / Maximum 6 (unless otherwise stated), Pre-pay required, 10 day cancellation (no cancellation refunds within 10 days prior to class).

Oct. 20 - Sat. - 10am to 4pm - Nut bucket basket - Round bottom with wire and wood handle about 10" across X 10" high to lashed rim of basket, makes a wonderful trick or treat basket. No color or color of your choice. $45.00 Beginner Level

Oct. 26 - Fri. - 10am to 3pm - 8" Egg basket or antler basket - Make this beautiful rib style basket. Choose from oak hoops for your handle or an antler for your handle $38.00 (oak hoops), $41.00 Antler (I provide the small antler), $35.00 if you bring your own "small" antler. If your antler is med. to large I will charge more for the class for materials and you will have to finish the basket on your own. For the antler style especially, if you wish to bring things to incorporate such as wool yarns, leather, jute etc. feel free to do so. Beginner

January- date to be announced - 10am to 5pm - Cat's Heat Basket/medium size, with Oak push in Handle (Swing handles are extra, will have several styles available at class to choose from if you wish). This is a Beginner/ Intermediate category, you may have to finish this basket on your own (lashing the rim), therefore at least 2 prior basket classes with lashed rims is required. You must be getting comfortable with your weaving skills before doing this basket, ask me, each person is assessed separately. $50.00 Beginner/Intermediate Level

Beginning Spinning

In this class we will explore the many fibers and tools that are available to the handspinner. Our focus will be to get you to the spinning wheel so that by the end of class you will have the skills you need to start you on the road of designing your own yarns.

  John Schneider Painting Workshop

Here is your opportunity to challenge yourself to paint landscapes with created color!                                                                                                          

The workshop will provide a general overview of composition through a demonstration and will focus on each person painting from a personal drawing.  This will facilitate us to capture the essential statement of a scene and allow for created colors to deal with interlocking space and light concerns.  We will strive to create interesting problems and work diligently to challenge new solutions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

I will be working from an ink drawing and painting oil/canvas.  Any medium iswelcome. Workshops will be held on January 12, and be limited to 10 people.  The cost is $55.00 (lunch included) and will start at 9:00 am and end at 3:00 pm.  The workshop will be located at Kindred Threads Studio, 311 South Main Street, Viroqua, WI 54665.

1.        Payment is required to hold your place in class and will be refunded if the class is canceled.  Please register early to avoid cancellations

2.        If you must cancel out of a class, let us know 24 hours in advance and we will extend a credit to you for a future class.

3.         If you fail to let us know beforehand, and don’t attend, you will forfeit your class fee.

3. Above policies apply to classes taught by Kindred Threads members. Outside instructors may have their own policies, concerning cancelations, and they are listed with their classes.
