Jan Rasikas
Jan
joins us with her one of a kind antique (formally pink) loom and a
desire to learn all she can about weaving; something that could well
take a lifetime. As a fairly new spinner she has surpassed her
teacher in the fineness and care she puts into her lovely handspun
yarns.
Carole Austin
With
the grand daddy of all looms (a 60" Glimakra), Carole is exploring the
magic of weaving and finding out that the magic parts are actually
starting to make sense.
Phyllis Scarbrough
Born on a Washington state Mountain top and raised in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, Phyllis was influenced by her Norwegian legacy in sewing and building, but it wasn't until 1985 that she finally persued her desire to weave. Taking 3 basket weaving classes from a friend in Northern NY she was hooked and the rest is history. 20+ years later she is still intriqued and not bored with the art of basket making. Her favorite style is Cherokee Twills but teaching basketry is her hearts passion, as she says, "there is not a better job in the world than the one that makes people smile". http://www.springfedorganics.com/raindance_baskets.htm
Barb is a beginning weaver who knows no fear. Not knowing what rules are to be followed she makes her own and so far has been outproducing the rest of us by quite abit. It is fun to see the ideas she pulls out of her head and then translates into something woven. Although no longer a member; Barb is still an inspiration and will always be one of us.
Carol Gohlke
Carol
joins us as a supporter of the fiber arts and someone who thought that
she was fiber impaired. Now that we have her knitting we are
looking to see what fiber direction she takes next. She also
hosts our 2 guilds that meet Tues., 4:00-6:00 and Friday morning from
10:00-noon.
Angela
Feltes
After running a yarn shop for a few years Angie is now focusing on weaving, and her hand dyed fibers and handspun yarn. That's not to say that her previous stained glass obsession doesn't occasionally call her back. Safe to say that boredom is never a problem.
Go to Angie's etsy shop (an online group of artists selling handmade items all over the world) to see new items for sale and to her blog to see what is going in in the local fiber community.
