The lovely island of Burano is a short boat ride from Venice but definitely a trip back in time.  Known for its hand stitched lace; this was one of the few spots, while on our trip, that I found fiber inspiration. The little lace making ladies looked so serene and peaceful, I’m not sure why, cause I’d be tearing my hair out trying to make all those perfect little stitches.  Hopefully they are really, really well paid; because their work was beautiful.  But it is more likely, that as with weaving and most fiber arts, the joy in creating , for the most part, overshadows any fair monetary compensation.
