I can’t think of a better way to spend a “when will it ever be spring” day than surrounded by my fiber friends.  I think everyone felt the same as we had a larger than average group, brave an iffy driving day after a snowfall overnight.  Lots of us have treacherous driveways and I know that I slid just a bit going down mine.  Turning into Elin’s long driveway gave me brief pause but the view heading up with the beautiful snow and the gateway framed by the sky was breathtaking.  This has been a winter of exceedingly beautiful snowfalls, even if they are kind of groaners right now as we long for warmer weather.  I will include one of my favorite pictures this winter and then we can be done with that!

Elin’s home and her spectacular studio are always filled with inspiration.  She is an expert natural dyer and weaves many wonderful rugs on her large Glimakra loom.  I could never hope to keep up with all of the many finished pieces that she creates but she does inspire me to try.

I think many of us had been a bit starved for conversations because the words and laughter were flying around her table and wherever anyone gathered.  Everything from the Forrest School, Montessori and the latest or best book recommendations, and this time not so much politics. Yeah.  Anyway it was just a much needed respite.

Thank you Elin and Bob for opening up your home and studio,  you are such great hosts.  And Elin congrats again on your new American citizenship.

We are a fun bunch. Olga is wearing a necklace of Elin’s dye samples that I photograph every time I go to her studio and also a lovely sweater that she modified and that has a great history, which I of course can’t remember right now. /Sue is modeling the defected double weave scarf I just took off the loom.  I was pretty excited to show it off./ Harriet is perfectly modeling her handwoven top with tapestry bird inlays.
