This month’s 2nd Monday gathering was in town at Judiths’s home.  We had a lovely afternoon in her gardens and even walked a labyrinth of twigs built by her neighbor modeled after the labyrinth at Chartres cathedral .  Thanks Olga for providing the link to the cathedral here:

Equally fun was the light protected bundle of pre treated fabric that Susan brought to demonstrate cyanotype printing.  The picture of her under the table placing various plants that we picked from Judith’s garden so they could be protected from the sun still makes me chuckle.  Once it was laid out she carefully moved it to a sunny area.  Unfortunately it was windy and semi sunny and we unpinned the flowers after only 3 minutes because they were blowing around.  She said that 10 minutes is the desired time.  It was fun watching the faint images appear after she had rinsed the piece in water and a bit of hydrogen peroxide.  So darn another rabbit hole for me to go down.

As the days are getting shorter and cooler I am finally back to weaving.  I took my open weave Lattice scarf off the loom in time to bring it to our gathering.  The warp and weft are 16/2 cotton and it is light as a feather.  I really like it. This might be the second scarf that I have made that I keep.  The second scarf  on this warp will be using 20/2 silk for the weft.

Tomorrow I will be heading to the Driftless Area Art Fair to hang out with my friend Nan at her booth.  This is the first time in around 20 years that I will not be exhibiting there.  It will be bittersweet.  The plan was to enjoy the summer instead of weaving 8-12 hour days and with how messed up my knee has been it is probably for the better that I wasn’t signed up for it.  We will see what next year brings.
