For it being a such a crazy time, where the crazies are seemingly without end, it is surprising how fast the summer is actually disappearing. With another shooting in Wisconsin of an unarmed black man this weekend, we are once again confronted with the evidence of a racist society, and now the back lash of protests and ensuing violence.  I have hope that we are taking positive steps forward to a more equal society, but these steps that keep taking us backwards are becoming too painful to bear.

We are fortunate here to have a strong community and once again I feel comforted by our group of weavers and fiber enthusiasts that meet on the 2nd Monday of the month.  This months gathering was under a shady tree in our towns Eckhardt park.  Although nothing seems normal, as evidenced by us wearing masks and trying to maintain some distance, our gathering gives some respite to isolation and a bit of a sense of normalcy.  As always it was good to reconnect and hear what everyone has been up to.

I am about tomato-ed out although I don’t think my tomato plants are done yet despite the drought we are having.  On a good news front I have started wanting to weave again.  Starting with the rag rug that has been on my Glimakra Ideal for way too long.  Wacking that weft into place felt really good.  Thankfully taking my frustrations out on my loom probably only makes for a stronger rug.

I’m finally finishing this rug. There is enough warp to do a couple of more rugs and I have some stretchy cotton from Great Northern Weaving that I am looking forward to trying. Or maybe some of my wool fabric bought long ago.
