Our 2nd Monday weavers gathering was in Viroqua at Denise and her partner Bill’s new to them house.  It was so fun to see how they have adapted to being townies after living in the country for so long.  As I suspected Denise’s sense of style and cozy love of art and textiles will make anywhere she lives homey.  But it was pretty sweet that their new home is especially cute.  I can’t wait to visit her when her gardens are in bloom.  It makes me think that my own transition to being a towny might not be so hard; if we found the right house.

I could have spent all my time in her studio room taking pictures because there was one wooly photo worthy picture after another.  I love her sense of color and it was visible everywhere in her yarn stash to her finished objects.

We had a really good time catching up and welcoming our our newest members.  Ann was back after not seeing her for awhile and we got to meet Sue for the first time.  Sue is a beginning weaver from LaCrosse and it turns out that she bought my original Glimakra loom that I sold a few years ago to Cathy.  It is always sad to see a loom go but I just did not have room in my house and now that I know Sue I may be popping in for a visit to see both of them.

As always the food was great, especially Denise’s butternut squash frittata.  But more important was being able to get together and share some laughs  with such inspirational ladies, as the holiday fast approaches.  I’m looking forward to our next gathering

I got the bamboo shadow weave scarf  off the loom in time to show it off. I love that bronze color and am glad there are 2 more on the loom to weave.

Denise had a little give away of books and tools and this fabric cutter was a highlight. Not sure what “as if a jumped jaguar” is supposed to mean but it was good for a few laughs.
The stitched work is by artist Leah Evans and the woven table square is by the talened Nancy Garden.

Elin showed off this vest she had knit for her husband Bob many years ago. I would love to see him in this. It just makes me smile.
